Who needs a desktop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always loved Dell's quality, never had any issue with anything related to them, other than the unfair firing of the Dell Dude. But enough of that, lets talk about my new Inspiron. It's a heavy, 17' behhemoth, with a large 16gb of RAM and dual 265GB SSD/2TB HDD, enough storage to last me a while. The Full HD screen is crisp and bright enough for my needs. The aforementioned 16GB of RAM keeps everything running buttery smooth, even with multiple programs running. And since my main progs come off the SSD, thy're all nice and snappy. Fit and finish of the hardware is tight. Maybe a little too tight. M one complaint, if you want to call it that, is the bottom bezels are a bit tight up against the screen, causing some minor distortion, but only noticeable if I'm watching movies in letterbox. Anything other than that is cherry. It doesn't bother me, but nitpickers may get a little bent out of shape. Battery life is about 4-5 hours. Hey, what did you expect? It's a hungry beast. It'll run the course of a couple movies. Again, no complaints from me. And did i forget to mention it has a Radeon graphics card with 4GB discreet on board? Should def help with moderate gaming, though I game on my consoles exclusive-like. Your mileage with that will vary. All in all I'm happy. With all that, what else do I really need?

Excellent Laptop!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop on 06/10/2018 and have been playing with it daily ever since. I've enjoyed my time exploring all that this machine has. It's been almost 9 years since my last computer/laptop purchase and I'm thoroughly impressed that it has everything I was looking for and then some...it's sleek, lightweight, love the 17.3" display, it has 16GB of Memory, 2TB Hard Drive +256 SSD, Win10, a DVD/CD Burner along with several other different ports (Note/most laptops don't have CD/DVD players anymore...for me that was a MUST have!). The Full HD display and AMD Radeon graphics are great for my gaming. It's Platinum Silver in color and it's a DELL. I especially liked the fact that when I took the laptop out of the box, I turned it on and the system talked me through the entire set up in a matter of minutes which was a nice surprise. I am very pleased with this purchase!

Great laptop for the money!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old laptop died, so I spent a long time researching new ones. This Dell laptop had EVERYTHING I was looking for and then some. The only thing it didn't have that was on my list was a light showing when the Num Lock button is on like there is for the Caps Lock. WHY did anyone ever have the idea to remove that light? Without it, there's no way to know for sure if it's turned on or not! But otherwise, this laptop is perfect. It's super fast, loads multiple tabs well and quickly, and everything I've done with it so far has gone very smoothly. The fan can be a bit loud, especially when you're taxing it with a heavy workload. But that doesn't prevent it from keeping up. And a MAJOR PLUS is the light up keyboard! I'll never be without one again! And the BEST feature is that it STILL HAS A DVD player! All of my previous laptops have had one, and they come in very handy sometimes. I HIGHLY recommend this laptop! Love almost everything about it!

Dell Inspiron 17'3
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked very well for the first 1 & 1/2 years or so. Keyboard began loosing 1/2 dozen or more key use. Had to buy bluetooth keyboard. Just recently the DVD drive broke. Will not eject. Had to buy a external DVD drive. I liked it for the storage which is great and for the DVD drive, which is almost impossible to find. Would not recommend unless it was expected to only last a few years. Otherwise it is great. I like the 17" screen, a little heavier but worth the weight when watching movies. Probably can't find this anyway.

I wanted a fast laptop, Windows 10, Large HD & DVD
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Dell Inspiron 5770 laptop has 1 17" screen as well as a back-lit keyboard. I haven't clocked it but it seems to be very fast. I very seldom use it with just the battery, so i can't speak to the battery life. It runs Adobe Photoshop 18 very well as well. Since it was not in stock I had to order it and have used it only a little more than a month...

The Loudest Computer I've Ever Owned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer came with a bad power supply that took a few weeks to replace before I could actually use the computer. When I could use it, I had problems importing my programs and data. Apparently I had purchased the wrong type of Geek Squad protection, so any time I wanted to ask a question or get help I had to take the computer to Best Buy - which was very inconvenient. I purchased a full support warranty directly from Dell (highly recommended) and they were able to help me get everything working. But, by the time I finally got a working power supply and got the computer running properly, it was too late to return it. This is the loudest computer I've ever owned and it can be very distracting to have that much noise while I'm trying to concentrate on work. If I had been able to return or exchange it, I would have. I don't think I've ever written a bad review before, and I probably wouldn't have written this one, but Best Buy asked for it.

Posted .dee0802,
Thanks for your review and for going through the correct channels to try to have your issues resolved. If you'd like your computer to operate quieter for you we'd recommend updating the BIOS on your computer: An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.
You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2ENlXfz.
We hope that this helps your computer operate quieter for you.
Best,
Bryan

Great Computer but Can Be Loud
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome replacement for an old Gateway that was actually just 2 1/2 years old but the PCI card broke after many prior internet and internal wifi connectivity issues so I decided to upgrade. Super fast but only have two complaints. 1. the fan is loud - fine at first but once it kicks on it's more than a little loud; need to turn up the volume for music/video. 2. the speakers are placed in the front bottom, rather than the top by the keyboard, which would be fine on a desk to resonate, but on a lap (laptop, heh) it tends to be quieter and more opportunity to muffle vs be heard in the room.

Great for the older generation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super fast startup because the OS is on the SSD. as an amateur photographer, the 2TB hard drive will store MANY photos with JPEG-NEF FILES. The 17.3 inch screen is excellent for processing photos. A great all-around Laptop.

Q: QuestionCan you use a docking station with this laptop? If so, which one? Wouldn't you want to use a docking station that has a USB-C port?
Asked by carolyn.
- A:Answer I use a USB-C docking station and it works great. I have two monitors and the laptop monitor, which gives me three monitors.

Q: QuestionSince this computer comes with two drives it would make sense that the documents, pictures, music, videos folders be stored on the larger 2 gigabyte drive. Does the Windows install default these folders to that drive and not drive c?
Asked by jkuchtaofmi.
- A:Answer One would think, but no. I just checked in windows explorer and everything is in the OS C drive. The D drive labeled Data, is empty. Looks like I've got some changes to make.

- A:Answer Actual Aluminum, I would say.

Q: QuestionIs the Windows 10 operating system located on the 256gb SSD drive?
Asked by Jayce1968.
- A:Answer Yes. So it takes a chunk out of the drive's available memory but speeds up windows. I find it an acceptable tradeoff.
Answered by Dexx
Q: QuestionDoes it comes with the Windows 10 Professional?? If not, what is the windows??
Asked by Rafa.
- A:Answer This PC configuration comes with Windows 10 Home version installed. You really won't need the Windows 10 Pro version, because it just has a few extra features that are designed for businesses and superusers....
